How Dutch dental insurance works (short version)
If you live and work in the Netherlands, you have a Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering). Adult dental care is mostly covered through supplementary dental insurance (aanvullende tandartsverzekering). Full dentures are an exception: they are partly covered by the basic insurance. Not sure what your policy covers? Bring your insurance details to your free consultation — we will check it for you, in plain English.

Registering as a new patient
In the Netherlands you do not need a referral to see a dentist, and there is no complicated paperwork. Call us on 0318 307 219, send a WhatsApp message or fill in the form — we will ask for your name, date of birth, BSN number if you already have one, and your insurance details. If you had a dentist before, in the Netherlands or abroad, we can request your records on your behalf so nothing has to be repeated unnecessarily.
You can register even if your BSN or insurance is not yet arranged. Our team speaks English, Dutch, Spanish and Turkish, so you will be understood from the first phone call onwards.
Dental care for your children
Dental care for children under 18 is covered by the compulsory Dutch basic insurance, with no deductible — that includes check-ups, cleaning, fillings and X-rays. Orthodontics falls outside this and needs supplementary cover. You can register your whole family at the same practice, and we will schedule appointments back to back where possible so one visit covers everyone.
What to expect at your first visit
Reckon on about half an hour. We examine your teeth and gums, take digital X-rays if needed, and explain what we find in plain English. If treatment is required you get the options, the timeline and the costs before anything is decided. Anxious about the dentist? Tell us — we are used to it and will take extra time.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to speak Dutch to become a patient here?
No. The entire process runs in English if you prefer, from making the appointment to your treatment plan and invoice questions.
Can I switch from my current dentist?
Yes, at any time. There is no notice period in the Netherlands. Contact us and we will handle the transfer of your records.
What does a check-up cost?
Dental tariffs in the Netherlands are set nationally by the NZa, so you pay the same here as at any other practice. We will tell you the exact amount when you book, and for larger treatments you receive a written estimate in advance.
